Plays, arts exhibits, concerts, museums – all these cultural opportunities and many more are available in the Brainerd Lakes Area. The Crossing Arts Alliance, in the Franklin Arts Center in Brainerd, promotes a variety of arts events in the region. Central Lakes College Theatre supports community plays as well as the popular Cultural Arts Series, which brings nationally recognized performers to Brainerd Lakes Area stages. Each fall, the Geritol Frolics host its vaudeville-style shows. Throughout the year, you will find a variety of arts and crafts shows, often associated with community festivals. You also will discover a growing number of music concerts, especially summer concert series in cities throughout the region as well as live bands at area restaurants and nightclubs. A number of museums offer a window to the past. These museums include the Crow Wing County Historical Society’s museum in Brainerd as well as historical exhibits in Crosby, Crosslake, Nisswa and Pequot Lakes. In addition, the Northern Minnesota Railroad Heritage Association hosts a train exhibit in Crosslake, depicting the logging and mining history of this region.
