It's time to dig out Thor, Big Bertha, Ole, Sven, Lena and Baby Olga for the Pequot Lakes Bean Hole Days celebration July 8 -10. It's a time for thousands to gather as they share a free lunch of baked beans, a dinner roll, and a glass of Culligan water. The fun begins with the Paddle Hunt - your first clue will be released at 9 a.m. July 8. On Tuesday night, the baked beans are buried in the ground. And on Wednesday, the celebration culminates with the raising of the beans, a Queen and King Bean Coronation, an arts and crafts fair, food market, children's games, and of course, lunch!
6 p.m.: Burying of the Beans Ceremony
The beans, prepared from Paul Bunyan?s secret recipe behind locked doors, are buried in five huge cast iron kettles and cooked over a wood fire during the night. Join us for this special ceremony! The largest kettle, THOR, is on display by the Pequot Lakes Chamber building.
9 a.m.-4 p.m.: Craft Fair and Concessions along the Paul Bunyan Trail
11:15 a.m.: Coronation Ceremony - Who will be this year's Queen or King Bean?
11:30 a.m.: Raising of the beans
12:00 p.m. : Serving of the Beans - The incredibly friendly volunteers serve a free and delicious bowl of baked beans, bun, and beverage to thousands of attendees.
Commemorative T-Shirts and Bowls will be sold July 8 -10 as supplies last at the Pequot Lakes Welcome Center in Trailside Park.
