Pine River Duck Races
Name:
Pine River Duck Races
Date:
August 17, 2012
Time:
1:45 PM - 3:00 PM
Event Description:
The Duck Races have been a summer tradition for over fifteen years. People of all ages can sponsor one or more racing "ducks" (really decoys). The ducks are ceremoniously dumped into the Pine River below the dam at the blast from a shotgun. Then they power paddle downstream 100 yards to the finish line. Wild cheering and quacking from the crowd is permitted and encouraged! The first three ducks in each race to cross the finish line earn prizes. A prize is also awarded to the "Slowest Duck" of each race. Three to six heats are held, depending on the enthusiasm and participation of the crowd! Then the winners and the Slow Duck of each race are invited back to race in the "Mighty Duck Off Race" for the Grand Prize of the day.
