About the Speakers:
Maria Surma Manka works with organizations to translate their complex work into meaningful materials and stories. Through public relations strategy, content writing, media relations and social media, she helps shift the spotlight onto her clients to improve sales, engagement and their reputation. She founded and leads Two Rivers Communications, a strategic communications firm that works with organizations and companies around the country, particularly those in the energy and technology spaces.
Prior to launching Two Rivers, Maria worked for Tunheim, a public relations agency, where she partnered with global companies, start-ups and nonprofits on media relations, branding efforts and events marketing. She was also a blogger (known as Maria Energia) for many years and wrote for several top environmental news sites.
Maria co-founded and co-chairs the Women's Leadership Fund, a local effort to accelerate the number and impact of women leaders in rural Central Minnesota. She also serves on the St. John's Outdoor University advisory council and is a Junior Achievement volunteer. Maria is a graduate of Hamline University and loves anything related to food: growing it, hunting it, foraging for it, cooking it and eating it. She appears as a riveted audience member in the Oscar-winning film 'An Inconvenient Truth.'
Frank Soukup is the Director of Marketing for Cote Family Destinations. He also serves on the Brainerd Chamber Board of Directors and the MRCA Board. Frank's areas of expertise include advertising, marketing, web direction, videography, photography, SEO, social media, and more.
