MAY 27 SHORELAND RESTORATION
Learn the benefits of shoreland vegetation, how to re-establish vegetation strips along the shoreline and an introduction of how shoreland property owners can restore natural functions to their shorelines. Through the use of video material, we will discuss why natural shorelines help protect water quality and wildlife habitat.

JULY 22 RAIN BARRELS AND RAIN GARDENS
Due to environmental concerns, rain gardens are one of the fastest growing gardening practices in Minnesota. A rain garden is an attractive landscape feature planted with perennial native plants. A rain garden is a shallow-shaped area, designed to absorb excess rainwater runoff. The garden’s loose soil and the native plants’ deep root systems will increase run off absorption as well as the removal of pollutants that might be present in that run off.
