Stage North Theatre is proud to announce its upcoming production of Forbidden Broadway, opening February 26, running through March 1.
Forbidden Broadway, by Gerard Alessandrini, is a hilarious, off-Broadway satirical revue that parodies popular Broadway shows, songs and performers with sharp wit and musical spoofing. Featuring songs from shows such as Les Misérables, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Rent, Mamma Mia and Phantom of the Opera, audiences will experience the joy of recognizing familiar melodies and iconic performances while laughing at how playfully and affectionately the revue pokes fun at them.
'We are excited to bring this light-hearted musical production to the Brainerd Lakes Area,' says Gary Hirsch, Artistic Director for Stage North Theatre. 'This time of the year, and this year in particular, people need a little levity from the heaviness of the world. Forbidden Broadway will provide a much-needed break where people can laugh at, and reminisce about, these beloved Broadway songs and musicals.'
The show features a talented cast of 17 local performers. The production team includes Kennedy Niska (Music Director), Wendy DeGeest (Choreographer), Gary Hirsch (Director), Koreann Martin (Pianist), and Jared Foss (Technical Director).
