16th Annual Monarch Butterfly Release

Description

You and your friends are invited to the CITY OF BREEZY POINT’s sixteenth annual BUTTERFLY RELEASE to be held at the lovely Pelican Woods Cemetery and Nature Trail. This outdoor event, similar to those held in past years, is scheduled for a Saturday to accommodate individuals and families who live at a distance.  Please mark your calendar for Saturday, July 17, 2021, and plan to be at the Cemetery (rain or shine) for the short Program at 11:00 a.m. 

We hope you will come early and enjoy viewing the beautiful grounds, including the All Veterans Memorial and Columbarium. All 200 monarch butterflies will be released at the same time. 

Please note: 

Seating is limited; you may wish to bring lawn chairs.
The program begins promptly at 11 a.m., come early to allow time for parking.
Golf carts will bring visitors to and from the parking areas.
The Butterfly Release will be held rain or shine.
If you are unable to attend, someone will be designated to release your butterfly. 
** The Breezy Point Cemetery Commission is sponsoring a Monarch Butterfly Coloring Contest.  All coloring pages submitted will be displayed at Breezy Point City Hall and the Cemetery Commission will choose one coloring page from each age category at their August 18th meeting.  The selected Artists will be notified and the pages chosen will be featured in the 2022 Butterfly Release Program.
